The poem "Spring and Fall" by Gerard Hopkins has many underlying themes and layers. The major themes focus on death and grieve. As time pass, the seasons turn from spring to fall, They still mourn the death of a child. The person the writer is adressing is forever changed by the death "It is margaret you mourn for."
