Angela opened a new bakery. She got orders for 2 cakes the first week, 4 cakes on the second week, and 8 cakes the third week. If this pattern continues, how many cake orders will Angela get the fourth week?

This is a geometric series where r=2.  So your fourth week should be 16.

i= 1 and n=4 so your equation is (1-r^n)/(1-r)

This would be 1-16/1-2= -15/-1= 15/1 = 15

Now just add your initial value (i=1) 1+15 = 16

So 16 cakes
