The Americans thought that the British were treating them cruelly, as shown in the picture. So they thought if they could gain independence the British would not bother them anymore. (ONE of the MAIN causes of the WAR)
I believe the revolutionary war occurred based off the picture because britain was constantly trying to display power towards the colonists. As soon as they tried to fight back they turned it into an entire war for full independence.
