The device attached to the diving suits is called a diving regulator. This device allows you to breathe under water, however it doesn't breathe for you.

A diving regulator reduces pressurized gas to ambient pressure and delivers it to the diver. The gas used in the diving regulator may be a variety of specially blended gasses or it can just be air.
