Javier and 2 of his friends, James and Alex, are planning on taking a trip to Miami, FL. They plan on driving and would like to rent a car. They have a choice of two rental cars, each coming with a full tank of gas. The compact car has a 16 gallon tank and averages 25 miles per gallon. The midsize car has a 21 gallon tank and averages 20 miles per gallon.

The compact car has a range of 400 miles because 16x25. On the other hand the sedan has a range of 420 miles because of 21x20. Therefore they should get the sedan because it can travel farther.
