You can turn them into improper fractions:

2 5/6 = [tex] \dfrac{17}{6} [/tex]

8 4/7 = [tex] \dfrac{60}{7} [/tex]

Multiply them:   170/7 = 24 [tex] \dfrac{2}{7} [/tex]

2 whole number  5/6  =      (2*6  + 5) / 6  =  17/6  in improper fraction.

 8 whole number  4/7  =      (8*7  + 4) / 7  =  60/7  in improper fraction.

17/6  * 60/7

(17 *10)/7
