Answer:

[tex]x = 2k + 1 \\ y = k - 1 \\ given[/tex]

if u substitute the givens in the eqn we will get..

[tex]2(2k + 1) - 2(k - 1) + 5 = 0 \\ 4k + 2 - (2k - 2) + 5 = 0 \\ 4k + 2 - 2k + 2 + 5 = 0 \\ [/tex]

then collect like terms

[tex]4k - 2k + 2 + 2 + 5 = 0 \\ 2k + 4 + 5 = 0 \\ 2k + 9 = 0[/tex]

[tex]2k = - 9 \\ k = \frac{ - 9}{2} [/tex]
