The trick to all of these questions is knowing that if you GAIN electrons, the atom becomes negative and if you LOSE electrons the atom becomes positive.

Electrons have a negative charge.

Another bit of knowledge you should know is the more electrons an atom has, the larger an atom is.

Finally, anions (atoms with a positive charge) are almost all metals and actions (atoms with a negative charge) are almost all non-metals.
